Part of the Gay Charlotte Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Charlotte, North Carolina
Charlotte's only leather bar on Queen City Drive near I-85, since 2001
The Woodshed is Charlotte's only gay leather bar, open since 2001 on Queen City Drive in an industrial stretch near I-85 — deliberately off the beaten path, which is part of the point. The building had a previous life as a private home turned barbecue restaurant run by the late Charlotte drag legend Boom Boom Latour before owner Greg Brafford turned it into the Woodshed. It's a leather and fetish bar that wears its identity plainly: a large patio with two outdoor bars, pool tables (free pool on Mondays), an on-site leather shop, and a dedicated play area. It serves as the home base for the Tradesmen and hosts BLUF Charlotte events, with underwear contests, fetish theme nights, and Sunday karaoke filling the weekly calendar. North Carolina's private-club rules mean you sign up for membership at the door. For leather-scene travelers, it's the only stop of its kind in the city.
