Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa's beloved lesbian bar and queer third space, rebuilt and reopened in 2023 after a fire
YBR Pub — short for Yellow Brick Road — is a Midtown Tulsa dive and one of only a few dozen lesbian bars left in the United States, a roster that has slowly grown back in recent years. A 2022 fire gutted the building, and the bar reopened in June 2023 after an extensive community fundraising push, which tells you how much the place means to the people who drink there. It's intentionally low-key: no club programming, no production drag, just pool tables, darts, a patron-controlled jukebox, and a patio. The draw is the room itself and the regulars in it — a conversation-first 'third space' for Tulsa's queer women and their friends, the kind of neighborhood pub where the bartender knows your name by the second visit. If you're looking for a dance floor, this isn't it; if you want somewhere to actually talk, it's one of the best in the city.
