Queer Women·Palm Springs Gay Guide

Are There Lesbian Bars and Safe Spaces in Palm Springs?

Palm Springs doesn't have a dedicated full-time lesbian bar, but the city is home to the world's most iconic queer women's event and has a deeply inclusive culture that makes most venues welcoming spaces for everyone.

The Dinah

The Dinah (September 30 - October 5, 2026) is the world's largest lesbian and queer women's music festival, running annually since 1991. The six-day event draws thousands of queer women from around the world for pool parties, concerts, comedy shows, and nightclub events across Palm Springs venues including Chill Bar and other locations.

Year-Round Queer Women-Friendly Venues

  • Chill Bar (217 E Arenas Rd) — One of the most popular bars on Arenas Road with a mixed crowd that's particularly welcoming to queer women. Hosts Dinah Weekend events
  • Toucans Tiki Lounge (2100 N Palm Canyon Dr) — Tropical-themed bar with a diverse, inclusive crowd and regular themed nights
  • Oscar's Downtown Palm Springs (125 E Tahquitz Canyon Way) — Iconic brunch spot with drag shows that draws a mixed LGBTQ+ crowd
  • Blackbook (315 E Arenas Rd) — Cocktail lounge with a welcoming atmosphere for all

The Bigger Picture

With an estimated 30-50% of Palm Springs residents identifying as LGBTQ+, the entire city functions as a safe space. Queer women are visible in local politics, business ownership, and community life. The Warm Sands resort district, while historically focused on gay men, has seen more inclusive properties emerge in recent years.
