Palm Springs, California
Tiki-themed drag bar on North Palm Canyon Drive, open since 2001
Toucans Tiki Lounge has been on North Palm Canyon Drive since roughly 2001, founded by Jason, Eddie, and Michele and inspired by the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland. Now run by Michele, it anchors Palm Springs' gay nightlife corridor with a five-night drag schedule: Slayhouse on Thursdays, Lips Looks & Lashes on Fridays, KICKXYLAND on Saturdays (hosted by Kickxy Vixen), and DREAMGIRLS Drag Extravaganza on Sundays featuring Drag Race and Dragula alumni. Saturday drag brunch runs noon to 3pm. The tiki decor was redesigned by interior designer Christopher Kennedy. The room is small enough that reservations are strongly recommended for shows. Open daily from 4pm (noon on Saturdays for brunch). Voted the desert's number one gay bar.
