Inclusion bar on Arenas Road with 450+ whiskeys and comfort food
A cocktail bar and gastropub on Arenas Road, the spine of Palm Springs' gay district, Blackbook opened in 2017 from owner Dean Lavine, who also runs The Evening Citizen speakeasy across the street. The name is a wink at the Nevada Gaming Commission's "black book" of barred gamblers, flipped into the bar's own idea of itself as an "inclusion bar." It holds what Visit Palm Springs calls the city's largest whiskey selection, several hundred pours deep, alongside a full cocktail program and an Americana kitchen running disco fries, a half-pound Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and a vegan burger. The look is sleek and industrial, and the crowd is a genuine mix off the Arenas strip rather than a single scene. Entrepreneur Magazine named it one of America's top 15 local nightlife spots in 2024, which tracks with how reliably busy it runs. A dependable anchor on a block where you can walk between half a dozen bars in an evening.
