New York City, New York
Queens' oldest gay bar in Astoria with nightly drag shows and karaoke
Queens' oldest gay bar, on 24th Avenue in Astoria — a 20-minute subway ride from Midtown Manhattan but a world away from the Hell's Kitchen circuit. The bar has been operating for decades and was repositioned under new ownership in 2014 from a primarily lesbian bar into a broader LGBTQ+ community hub. Named to Thrillist's Top 11 LGBTQ Bars in NYC. Nightly programming rotates through drag karaoke, drag bingo, RuPaul's Drag Race viewing parties, open mic, stand-up comedy, and trivia. Wednesday alternates Bear Nights and Lesbian Nights. 2-for-1 happy hour Monday through Saturday. Pool tables, dartboards, jukebox. The neighborhood bar format serves the Queens queer community that doesn't want to commute to Manhattan for a night out.
