Venetian bakery in the Gay Village with 72-hour panettone, bomboloni, and pizza al taglio.
Arte & Farina is an Italian bakery, pastry shop, and cafe located on Sainte-Catherine Street East in the heart of Montreal's Gay Village. Founded by Venetian pastry chef Sandro Carpenè and pizzaiolo Mirko, the establishment is known for its 72-hour cured artisanal panettone alongside fresh Italian bomboloni, cornetti, hand-rolled ricotta gnocchi, and Roman-style pizza al taglio. The sunlit, maplewood-accented interior is anchored by a living 45-year-old olive tree and features a seasonal outdoor sidewalk terrace. From Thursday through Saturday evenings, the cafe operates an aperitivo bar with a menu of Italian cocktails developed by mixologist Valentina Pancaldi. The venue also serves as a neighborhood community space, hosting events such as the Festival Lire Queer book club.
