Montreal, Québec
Wood-fired neighborhood bistro on Rue Atateken in the Gay Village.
Keela is a dinner-only neighborhood bistro on Rue Atateken in Montreal's Gay Village, steps from the Beaudry metro. Owners Kristin Murphy (front of house) and chef Johnny Hamilton — both veterans of Lucille's Oyster Dive — opened the spot in 2020 and built the menu around a wood-fired oven inherited with the space. Flatbreads, steak frites, grilled octopus, beef tartare, and a $1 oyster promotion on Tuesdays. Live music from Bud Rice on Friday evenings. The room is small — exposed brick, wood floors, candlelight — with a wooden terrace for summer. Keela hosts recurring 5 a 7 gatherings for LGBTQ+ women on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, organized by Avery Burrow, with $5 pints and $6 cocktails. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 5 to 10 PM.
