Part of the Gay San Juan Guide — bars, events & things to do.

San Juan, Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico's only lesbian bar, in the heart of Placita Roosevelt
Atrévete is a lesbian- and women-centered bar and café near Placita Roosevelt in Hato Rey, and one of the few spaces in metro San Juan built specifically around queer women. It runs as a café by day and an intimate bar by night, with an indoor room and a small outdoor patio, and the owner often takes the DJ and host duties personally, taking requests and spinning salsa, merengue, and throwbacks alongside a short menu of made-to-order food. Thursdays bring karaoke, and the space doubles as a small gallery and stage for local queer artists and musicians. The crowd skews toward queer women and femmes, mature and professional with a younger mix, and welcomes the broader community. It's open Thursday through the weekend, and the feel is conversation and neighborhood socializing rather than a nightclub.
