Oak Cliff's LGBTQ+ dive bar — karaoke, pool table, and zero judgment
Barbara's Pavillion is Oak Cliff's only LGBTQ+ bar — a no-frills gay dive a block from the historic Texas Theatre, about half a mile from the Bishop Arts District. The Dallas Observer named it Best LGBTQ+ Bar in 2024, and the karaoke nights (Thursdays and Sundays, hosted by drag queens) took Best Karaoke Night in 2022. The wait for the mic is short and the judgment is zero. The crowd skews regulars: a genuinely mixed room of men and women, gay and straight, across all ages. Pool table, jukebox, back patio, and weekday happy hour with $3 domestics and wells. It's the opposite of the Cedar Springs strip — scrappy, lived-in, and built on community rather than spectacle.
