Part of the Gay Providence Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Providence, Rhode Island
Inclusive bar and grill on Westminster Street with drag and dancing.
Black Sheep is a bar and grill on the corner of Westminster and Empire in downtown Providence, named with a nod to the '90s hip-hop group and the simple idea of a place where every black sheep fits in. It started as a neighborhood spot for good food and music from a few locals, and it's grown into one of the more reliably queer-friendly rooms downtown without ever turning into a club. The food is pub-classic done well, smash burgers, wings, and generous cocktails, but the draw for a lot of the crowd is the drag. The Black Sheep Babes run drag bingo midweek and drag brunches most weekends, with local DJs and theme nights rounding things out. It's less a gay bar than an inclusive neighborhood grill that happens to throw some of the better drag events in the city.
