Providence, Rhode Island
Gay bar with drag and go-go on Snow Street in the Fruit Loop.
The Dark Lady is one of Providence's best-known gay clubs, planted at 19 Snow Street in the cluster of downtown bars locals call the Fruit Loop, a short walkable run of LGBTQ+ spots in Downcity that makes for an easy bar hop. The room is built for performance: a two-story dancing pole, a stage, go-go dancers, and a lounge to retreat to when the floor gets loud. Drag shows run Friday and Saturday at midnight, with pole performances, go-go dancers, and karaoke filling out the rest of the week. Next door, its self-described "little sister" Alley Cat offers a mellower contrast when you need to actually hear someone talk. It's the high-energy anchor of the Fruit Loop, and since Providence bars stop letting people in around last call, the smart move is to get there before midnight if the drag show is the plan.
