Club Dallas is a 24-hour gay men's bathhouse on Swiss Avenue near Deep Ellum, and one of the longest continuously operating bathhouses in the country, open since August 1974. Part of the national chain run by The Clubs, it has operated from the same Swiss Avenue address for more than fifty years. The layout centers on an outdoor pool ringed by high privacy walls, with a sun deck, hot tub, dry sauna, steam room and a gym that draws its own regulars, alongside lockers and private rooms. Membership is required and the doors never close, holidays included, which makes it a fixture for locals and travelers passing through Dallas alike. Saturday nights usually bring a DJ spinning after hours. The club also works as a community health resource, handing out free condoms and hosting regular on-site HIV and STD screening. It has advertised in every issue of the Dallas Voice since the paper launched in 1984, a run the publication credits as unbroken.
