Denver, Colorado
Denver's leather-and-Levi's bar with a kitchen and Sunday beer busts.
The Denver Eagle is the city's leather-and-Levi's bar, on West Colfax a few miles west of downtown. It carries the name of the international Eagle lineage that's run in Denver since 1995 — the original sat in what's now the RiNo Arts District, and after a couple of moves the current owners reopened the Eagle here in March 2022, in the former Den space, under the banner "The Eagle Has Landed." It's also one of the few Black-owned gay bars in the country. Inside it's a rugged, unpretentious room where gear is welcome but never required, with a kitchen turning out food and a calendar of themed nights, including a long-running Sunday beer-bust T-dance heavy on throwback music. The crowd skews men, bears, and leather regulars, but the door stays friendly to anyone curious about Denver's leather scene. It's the anchor of the city's West Side gay nightlife, worth the trip out Colfax if no-frills, cruisey energy is what you're after.
