San Francisco, California
Nautical-themed cocktail lounge on SoMa's Folsom Street.
Nautical-themed cocktail lounge at 1225 Folsom Street in SoMa, a location that has been a gay bar in some form since 1967 — operating as The Ramrod, Chaps II, and KOK before Driftwood opened in 2013. The interior leans into a weathered, 19th-century coastal aesthetic with a cast-iron fireplace, leather sofas, a vintage piano, and hand-crafted bar stools. Craft cocktails ($14) are curated by Nick Bray with names nodding to California's coastal heritage. Happy hour runs Tuesday through Saturday, 4–6pm. Programming includes RuPaul's Drag Race viewing parties and weekend DJ sets with no cover. More cocktail lounge than dive bar — the kind of place where the Folsom Street crowd can settle into a sofa by the fireplace.
