Part of the Gay Palm Springs Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Palm Springs, California
Historic clothing-optional gay resort with two pools since 1975
A walled and gated, clothing-optional gay men's resort in Warm Sands, the Palm Springs neighborhood that's become the desert's main cluster of gay guesthouses, just a few minutes from the downtown bars and restaurants. The property dates to a 1947 mid-century compound and opened to gay guests in 1975, among the first resorts in the city to do so. Today it's a private six-building layout set around lush, mature gardens, with two pools (one a heated saltwater pool), a large jacuzzi, and the kind of quiet, screened-off grounds that make the desert heat feel like the point rather than the problem. The vibe is relaxed and adults-only, geared to couples and solo travelers who want privacy and an easygoing pool-day social scene rather than a party-resort. It sits within walking distance of the other Warm Sands properties, so it works well as a calmer home base while the Arenas Road nightlife is a short drive away. Swimsuits are optional at the pools, and the small scale keeps it feeling more like a private villa stay than a hotel.
