The Center on Colfax is Colorado's LGBTQ+ community center, founded in 1976 and operating from a 15,000-square-foot facility on East Colfax Avenue in Capitol Hill — half a block from its original 1979 office. Programs span five populations: Rainbow Alley youth drop-in (ages 10-17), young adults 18-25, adult mental health services through Glass Lawler, the West of 50 seniors program, and dedicated transgender support groups. The on-site Terry Mangan Memorial Library houses LGBTQ+ archives and oral histories. The Center has produced Denver PrideFest since 1989, and it's grown into one of the largest free Pride events in the country — recent editions have drawn crowds of roughly 550,000. It's a working community hub — HIV/STI screenings, peer support groups, fitness classes, and the RANGE cultural humility program all run out of the same building, open weekdays 10 AM to 8 PM.
