Part of the Gay San Francisco Guide — bars, events & things to do.
San Francisco, California
SoMa's friendly neighborhood gay biker bar since 1994.
Hole in the Wall bills itself as your friendly neighborhood gay biker's bar, and it has been a SoMa fixture since 1994 — first a couple of blocks away, then at its longtime Folsom Street home in the heart of the leather corridor. The room is all character: a dragon painted across the ceiling, chains and hardware bolted to the walls, a jukebox heavy on rock, blues, and soul, and a pool table in the back where two house teams shoot. The crowd runs to bikers, leather guys, and a down-to-earth mix of regulars who don't mind a dive that means it. Shirtless Thursdays knock a couple of bucks off drinks, Saturday afternoons bring a happy-hour pour, and there's never a cover. It is cash only, with an ATM on the wall. Loud, unpolished, and proudly itself, it is the kind of SoMa bar the neighborhood's condos keep failing to tame.
