New York City, New York
Latin gay lounge with drag brunch and go-gos in Astoria
Kween is a gay cocktail lounge and kitchen in Astoria, Queens, opened in 2022 by Pedro Alvarado, a Venezuelan immigrant who spent over 20 years in NYC hospitality before launching his own place. The space on 30th Avenue has a full Latin fusion menu — empanadas, sliders, ricotta French toast at brunch — alongside craft cocktails and a pink throne that doubles as the house selfie spot. Programming runs every night: karaoke Wednesdays, Latino Party Thursdays, go-go dancers Fridays, and drag brunch with bottomless mimosas on weekends. It's a neighborhood anchor for Astoria's LGBTQ+ community — part of a corridor that includes Icon and Albatross — and the annual Astoria Pride parade passes right by the front door.
