One of the oldest bars in Memphis, and a Midtown dive in the full sense — 1970s knick-knacks on the walls, vintage picture books, handmade placemats. “Ms. Ann” ran it for more than forty years before retiring in 2018 and selling to Laurel Cannito and Chuck Wenzler, both regulars in the local music scene. It is not a gay bar, but it sits on the Madison Avenue strip and Midtown locals count it among the reliably LGBTQ+ friendly rooms in the neighborhood, with drag, karaoke, burlesque and comedy all turning up on the calendar. Programming is booked show by show rather than on standing weekly nights, so check the socials. The kitchen’s burgers and fries are cooked in coconut oil, a long-running signature.
