Nashville, Tennessee
Queer-owned East Nashville bookstore.
Novelette is a queer-owned bookstore in East Nashville's Eastwood Village, opened in June 2022 by Deezy Youngdahl and Jordan Tromblee. The two met while working at Butcher & Bee and bonded over a conversation about Jeffrey Eugenides's Middlesex — then decided Nashville needed an inclusive bookshop. LGBTQ+ identity runs through the entire inventory, not just a single shelf: fiction, graphic novels, YA, sci-fi, romance, memoir, and more, all hand-curated. The shop occupies a unit in a repurposed historic church building (Hobson Chapel), with bubblegum pink shelves, lime green tables, and a dragon mural by artist Kayla Fritz in the back corner. They host author events and book clubs regularly. Open Tuesday through Sunday.
