Cleveland, Ohio
LGBTQ+-owned sliding-scale gym by appointment in Gordon Square.
LGBTQ+-owned gym in Cleveland's Gordon Square Arts District, founded in 2022 by personal trainer JJ Forbes. The space occupies a converted apartment in a 1910 building on Detroit Ave, blocks from the LGBT Community Center. It runs on a sliding-scale model — open gym starts at $6/hour, no startup or annual fees — so cost is never the barrier. Workouts are by appointment, which means you get the room to yourself or share it with a small group. Programming includes a signature "Strength for Absolute Beginners" class, Friday yoga, and personal training. The gym was crowdfunded by 50+ neighbors and has grown to about 75 active members. It's a low-key, private alternative to the big-box gym, built specifically for people who wanted a space without the performance pressure.
