Part of the Gay Phoenix Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Phoenix, Arizona
365-day neighborhood dive on Bethany Home with $3 wells and karaoke.
Neighborhood gay dive at 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road, open since 2000 and close to the light rail. OZ is the opposite of a scene bar: a pool table, dart boards, a roomy patio, some of the cheapest pours in Phoenix, and a regulars-first room where people know each other by name. Friday karaoke fills the place to close, Sunday bingo sends its proceeds to LADS (a local gay men's charity), and a standing poker league has its own following. It stays low-key on purpose, which makes it worth a stop if you want the unpretentious end of the Phoenix bar map rather than the Melrose strip.
