Part of the Gay Louisville Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Louisville, Kentucky
Louisville drag bar with back-to-back shows and a massive dance floor.
Play is Louisville's main queer nightclub, a two-part venue on East Washington Street that splits a dedicated theater-style show room from a separate, full-size dance floor. The resident Play Mates cast headlines drag shows several times a night on weekends, and the club regularly brings in touring talent, including RuPaul's Drag Race alumni, alongside a resident DJ. Part of the Play Dance Bar group, it's been voted Louisville's best place to dance and best gay club. Beyond the stage and the dance floor there's a quieter bar area with a patio, plus a mezzanine and VIP booths, so the room works whether you want the show, the dance, or somewhere to actually talk. It's the city's go-to for a big drag-and-dance night and a frequent host for community fundraisers like drag bingo, the destination end of Louisville nightlife and distinct from the lower-key Bardstown Road bars.
