Part of the Gay Phoenix Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Phoenix, Arizona
Cathedral-styled Melrose bar with drag shows and a rainbow-wings mural.
A gay bar and dance lounge on 7th Avenue in the Melrose District, open since 2013, with a striking cathedral-style interior: vaulted ceilings, walls hung with work by local artists, and one of the better sound systems in the Valley. Owner Stacy Louis keeps it hands-on, and drag is central, with shows several nights a week plus the long-running Sunday Service Drag Brunch, a church-themed variety romp of live singing and comedy. The rest of the week fills out with karaoke, theme dance parties, and goth and rave nights, drawing a younger, higher-energy queer crowd than the dive bars down the strip. It anchors the Melrose gayborhood alongside Charlie's, The Rock, and the Bunkhouse: the spot to start a night when you want a show and a dance floor.
