Berkeley's legendary men's bathhouse with saunas, gym, and themed nights on 4th St
Steamworks is a men's bathhouse in West Berkeley, open around the clock, that pairs a full gym with the usual bathhouse amenities — sauna, eucalyptus steam room, whirlpool, private rooms, lounges, and play spaces. It's run as a membership club, 18-plus with ID, and has been a fixture of East Bay men's nightlife since the 1970s. The calendar keeps it from feeling like just a facility: recurring Bear, Jock, and Lights Out theme nights give regulars a reason to time their visits, and community health partners run on-site HIV and STI testing. It's the East Bay's main bathhouse option, and the modern, well-kept end of the format.
