San Diego, California
San Diego's gay bathhouse in Hillcrest, with sauna, gym, and maze.
Club San Diego is the city's only dedicated gay bathhouse, tucked on Fourth Avenue in Hillcrest a block off the University Avenue strip. The two-level facility has been operating for more than forty years and packs in roughly fifty private rooms along with a steam room, dry sauna, jacuzzi, gym, video lounges, and maze-like play areas. A smoking lounge with a pool table gives it a more social, hang-out feel than a strictly cruising-focused space. Independently owned rather than part of a national bathhouse chain, it draws a genuine cross-section — Hillcrest regulars, guys in from across Southern California, and travelers who know it's the last full-scale club of its kind in town. It survived a 2019 fire and reopened renovated, and remains the default after-hours anchor for San Diego's gay men's scene.
