Gay bar with nightly drag shows on Reguliersdwarsstraat since 2010
Taboo Bar sits on Reguliersdwarsstraat, Amsterdam's main gay street, and has run since 2010 — a 2022 renovation added a proper stage, which tells you where its priorities are. Two floors, video screens, a street terrace and a smoking lounge give it room for a crowd. Drag is the throughline of the week: a cocktail night with drag queens on Wednesdays, drag bingo on Thursdays, Friday drag performances and a Sunday drag show. The crowd is a true Reguliersdwarsstraat mix of locals and tourists, younger and older, and happy hours are built into most evenings. It opens daily from the late afternoon. It's one of the more dependable spots on the strip for actual entertainment rather than just a DJ, which makes it a good early-evening anchor before the street's later, clubbier rooms get going.
