Part of the Gay Dallas Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Dallas, Texas
Cedar Springs dance club, open since 1978.
The Mining Company — TMC — opened in 1978 as the Throckmorton Mining Company, the first gay bar on Cedar Springs and still the strip's elder at nearly fifty years. Now in a newer space at 3903 Cedar Springs, the bi-level club keeps a dance floor going alongside pool tables and an outdoor patio, drawing a crowd that leans toward Dallas's gay men. It is a more intimate dance option than the big rooms a few doors down, the kind of place that's easy to fold into a strip crawl without committing your whole night to it. The history is the hook — this is where Oak Lawn's nightlife corridor effectively started — but TMC earns its regulars on the floor, not the plaque. Come for a dance and a game of pool without the cover-charge production of the larger clubs.
