Part of the Gay Berlin Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Berlin, Germany
Gay Kneipe in Schöneberg since 1987 — a bear-friendly neighborhood bar with weekly Stammtisch.
The New Oldtimer (Der Neue Oldtimer) is a gay Kneipe in Schöneberg that has been pouring since 1987, parked on the northern edge of Berlin's historic queer village near Wittenbergplatz. The room centers on a large island bar with a nostalgic, lived-in feel; a soundtrack of 70s and 80s hits runs under the conversation, and in warmer months beer benches line the sidewalk out front. Proprietor Conny is the fixture here, known for a sharp tongue and a knack for turning first-timers into regulars. The crowd skews mature, friendly, and local, with a strong bear contingent. The Berlin Bears (Spreebären) hold their Stammtisch here every Thursday from 8 p.m., and karaoke nights pull a looser mix. This is the antidote to Berlin's marathon club scene, an old-school neighborhood boozer built for actual conversation rather than a dance floor. Doors open at 3 p.m. daily (2 p.m. Sundays) and run into the early morning, so it works equally well as a first stop or a last one.
