Schöneberg bear bar since 2006 with darkroom and cruising nights
Berlin's dedicated bear bar, on Fuggerstraße in Schöneberg, the city's oldest gay neighborhood, steps from Nollendorfplatz and right next to Prinzknecht. Open since summer 2006, Woof draws bears, cubs, daddies, leather and hairy men, and the admirers who come for them, though in practice all types turn up. Entry is by doorbell, with no cover and no dress code. A large darkroom is part of the layout, with dedicated cruising nights Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday from 9 PM, and Tuesdays run a 2-for-1 drinks deal year-round. There's a smoking room inside. The bar gets noticeably busier during Folsom Europe and the Bear Summer Berlin weekends, when it becomes one of the neighborhood's anchor stops. Bear World Magazine named it one of the ten best bear bars in the world. For a traveler it's the easiest entry point to Berlin's bear scene: unpretentious, walkable from the Schöneberg hotels, and close enough to Prinzknecht that the two make a natural pair on one night out.
