Men's three-floor bathhouse on N Keystone Avenue in Indianapolis, open 24/7
The Works is Indianapolis's men's bathhouse and private club, open around the clock on North Keystone Avenue. It traces back to 1977 and gay-rights activist and publisher Stan Berg, who later launched a publication named for the club — the magazine that grew into the newspaper New Works News — a lifeline for community news and HIV/AIDS resources, and who helped found the Indianapolis Gay/Lesbian Coalition. That history gives a venue of this kind unusually deep local roots. The three-floor facility is built for a long stay: a dry cedar sauna, steam room, rainfall showers, dark rooms, a sling room, an outdoor sun deck, and 41 private rooms from standard up to deluxe suites. Recent management put it through a full renovation. Recurring nights give the week some shape — discounted Tuesdays plus rotating monthly parties including Blackout, CumUnion, and a BearUnion night for the bear crowd. It's a men's space, 24/7, and the long-standing option of its kind in the city.
