Palm Springs, California
Nine-room mid-century gay men's resort in the Warm Sands corridor since 1958
Triangle Inn is a nine-room, clothing-optional gay men's resort on a quiet street one block off Palm Canyon Drive. The property dates to 1958 — originally the Impala Lodge, designed by architect Hugh M. Kaptur as his first commercial commission. The mid-century modern bones (steel, glass, and stone) are still intact behind the walled compound's tropical gardens and mountain views. Owners Michael Green and Stephen Boyd, a married couple who relocated from Atlanta, have run the resort since 2000 and live on-site. Suites come with full kitchens and private baths; the grounds include a pool, hot tub, misting-equipped sundecks, and complimentary breakfast. Triangle Inn sits between Palm Springs' louder party resorts and its most exclusive boutique properties — relaxed enough for couples, social enough that you won't feel isolated.
