Trixie Mattel's seven-room maximalist boutique motel with pool
Trixie Motel is a seven-room boutique motel in Palm Springs owned by drag superstar Trixie Mattel, renovated on camera for the Discovery+ docuseries that premiered in 2022 (Season 2 followed on Max in 2024). Each room is a custom-themed maximalist production — Yeehaw Cowgirl, Atomic Bombshell, Pink Flamingo, Flower Power, Malibu Barbara, Queen of Hearts, and the Oh Honeymoon Suite — with original murals, themed furniture, lava lamps, and in-room record players. The grounds include a pool with pink loungers and tasseled parasols, a cactus garden, and The Barbara Bar serving cocktails in the lobby. The design is self-aware camp at full volume: mid-century motel kitsch filtered through drag-performer maximalism, built for the kind of stay you end up posting about whether you planned to or not.
