Bar X is a double-decker dive bar on tiny, historic Camac Street in the Gayborhood, in the corner space that for decades housed the Venture Inn, one of Philadelphia's oldest gay bars. It keeps things unpretentious and affordable — drink specials and a low-key weeknight hang upstairs — then turns up on weekends when the basement-level dance floor opens. It sits right next door to the piano bar Tavern on Camac, so the two make an easy one-two: a song-along over there, a dance and a watch party over here. Programming leans fun and casual, with drag karaoke, TV watch parties, and themed nights drawing a neighborhood crowd that wants community over flash. A good pick if you like your bars small, friendly, and walkable to everything else in the Gayborhood.
