Part of the Gay Atlanta Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Atlanta, Georgia
Midtown's gay menswear and swimwear shop since 1980.
Boy Next Door has outfitted Atlanta's gay community since 1980, which makes it one of the longest-running LGBTQ+ retailers in the Southeast. The shop is known for men's underwear, swimwear, and outerwear from independent designers rather than mall labels, with brands like Nasty Pig anchoring the racks and the buying leaning curated over comprehensive. Carroll, Kathy Hawkins, and Bill Garner bought the business in 2017 and ran it for years out of its original space near the Atlanta Botanical Garden. When a planned park expansion threatened to displace them, they moved in 2023 to 1000 Piedmont Avenue on Midtown's Rainbow Crosswalk, putting the store on one of the most photographed corners in the gayborhood. It's the kind of place where you stop in for swim trunks before a pool party and leave with the latest drop you didn't plan on.
