Atlanta, Georgia
LGBTQ+ variety store and adult boutique in Ansley Square since 1989.
Brushstrokes Pleasures has run on the same stretch of Piedmont Avenue since 1989, and it's Atlanta's only independently owned LGBTQ+ adult variety store. The inventory reaches well past the toys and novelties you'd expect: more than 4,500 styles of greeting cards share shelf space with pride flags, T-shirts, books, DVDs, jewelry, party games, and gifts, alongside the full adult section. It functions as much as a neighborhood gift shop as an erotica boutique. After more than 35 years on the same strip, most of them under longtime staff who know the stock cold, Brushstrokes has earned a reputation for a no-pressure, genuinely welcoming room. It sits in the Ansley Square cluster of Gay Friendly businesses, which makes it an easy add to an afternoon of browsing the gay district rather than a destination you steel yourself to visit.
