Founders John Dorry and Bill Barnish bought what was then a transient housing complex in 1998 and rebuilt it — at the time, Wilton Manors had almost nothing beyond a single bar. Cabanas is credited as one of the pioneers of the neighborhood's gay identity. 18 individually decorated rooms across five buildings, a heated saltwater pool with cabanas, a smaller secluded relaxation pool, an in-ground hot tub, and a canal-side waterfront setting behind a privacy fence and security gate. The full-service men's day spa (massages, facials, body treatments) is open to non-guests via day pass. Tiki bar serves food and drinks poolside. Continental breakfast included. Voted Best Gay Guest House by South Florida Gay News eight consecutive years. Under a mile from Wilton Drive's bars and restaurants. Rates around $190/night.
