Part of the Gay Amsterdam Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Amsterdam, Netherlands
Canal-side gay-friendly bar-café with Dutch kitchen near Leidseplein.
Café Mankind is a gay-friendly bar-café in the Spiegelkwartier, the antique-dealer district between the Rijksmuseum and Leidseplein — a few minutes' walk from the Reguliersdwarsstraat gay strip but in a quieter, canal-side setting. The canal-side terrace along the Lijnbaansgracht has a boat landing stage, so you can literally arrive by water. The kitchen runs noon to 8:30pm with Dutch comfort food — bitterballen, homemade soups, steak sandwiches, satay, and poffertjes. Staff are plugged into Amsterdam's LGBTQ+ scene and double as informal guides for visitors sorting out the city's nightlife. Open Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 10pm.
