A Walker's Point dance bar in an 1880 building with a volleyball court.
DIX sits on South 1st Street in Walker's Point, in an 1880 building with original tin ceilings, oak floors, and a century-old oak bar split between a lounge side and a dance floor. Woman-owned by Elizabeth Kujawa, who opened it in 2009, it takes its name from the Roman numeral for 509 — a wink she chose over the more obvious spelling. Out back, a sand volleyball court shared with neighboring Fat Daddy's hosts the annual Walker's Point Pride block party. Programming runs to drag shows, DJs, and theme nights, and the weekend crowd mixes longtime regulars, bachelorette groups, and people bar-hopping the 2nd Street strip. The building itself is half the draw — one of the best-preserved old rooms in the gayborhood — and the bar leans into that history rather than papering over it.
