Part of the Gay Milwaukee Guide — bars, events & things to do.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Wisconsin's last lesbian bar, in Walker's Point since 2001.
Walker's Pint is Wisconsin's last remaining lesbian bar, opened in July 2001 by Bet-z Boenning — a former bartender at the now-closed Dish who wanted a casual, visible, women-forward room of her own. It sits on South 2nd Street in the Walker's Point gayborhood, with a front bar, a second bar in back, an outdoor patio, dart boards, and Giant Jenga, all under the house motto: "Be Nice or Leave." It's a cornerstone of the national Lesbian Bar Project, and the calendar keeps it a real neighborhood hub — dart leagues, bingo, karaoke, and the annual Scorpio Party, plus fundraisers Boenning runs through her nonprofit Forward Please. The feel is friendly dive more than scene bar, with a small stage for local DJs and drag, and a welcome that extends well past its women-forward core.
