Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
South Philly LED-wall dive bar and dance club, open weekends only.
Dive bar and dance club in the Newbold section of South Philly, originally a go-go bar that was the first stop for sailors coming in from the Navy Yard. Reopened in 2013 by FCM Hospitality with a dive-bar-meets-nightclub concept, and again in 2021 with a kitchen ($1 tacos) and the sound system from the late Boot & Saddle. The signature feature is a floor-to-ceiling LED light wall that pulses to the music. Rotating DJ residencies cover disco (Club Congress), house and trance (ROTN), 2000s hip-hop (Lean Back), and an explicitly queer night called Polari Party with pop edits and gay anthems. Not a gay bar per se, but queer-friendly enough to land on Visit Philadelphia's LGBTQ+ bar guide and the Lex dating app's Philly nightlife list.
