Part of the Gay Pittsburgh Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Millvale's haunted 'they bar' — coffee by day, drag by night.
Harold's Haunt is a self-described "they bar" in Millvale, opened in 2022 and built around trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming patrons, which makes it a rarity even among queer bars. The space leans into a witchy, haunted-Victorian theme (a nod to the building's resident-ghost lore) and pairs the bar with an attached queer witch shop. By day it runs as a coffee shop pouring beverages from Lemon Tree PGH; by night it shifts into a bar with drag shows, movie nights, and community events, and there's always a mocktail list for sober friends. It anchors Millvale's small but growing cluster of queer-friendly businesses, just across the river from the city. For a traveler, it's less a night-out destination than a daytime-into-evening hangout: go for the coffee and the room, stay if there's a show on, and you'll get a read on the younger, more explicitly trans-centered side of Pittsburgh's queer scene that the older bars don't offer.
