Part of the Gay Pittsburgh Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Queer-rooted techno and house party, now roving bi-weekly.
Hot Mass is Pittsburgh's queer techno and house party, an internationally followed night that grew out of the city's underground dance scene and spent more than twelve years inside the Club Pittsburgh bathhouse before parting ways with the venue in early 2025. It now runs roughly every other weekend in its own space, "Hot Mass 2.0," with the address kept off the listings and sent to ticket holders by email the night of the event. Advance tickets are required and there are no door sales. The booking leans serious-dancefloor: underground house and techno DJs, long sets, and a crowd that's there for the music rather than bottle service. A QTBIPOC+ guest list runs for each party, keeping the door in line with the night's roots. It remains a backbone of Pittsburgh's underground LGBTQ+ electronic scene. For a visiting raver it's worth planning around: buy ahead, watch your inbox, and treat the secrecy as part of the format.
