Village karaoke bar open since the 1980s with a 30,000-song library.
Le Date is the Village's veteran karaoke bar on Sainte-Catherine Est, open since the 1980s as Club Date Piano-Bar and a neighborhood mainstay for more than forty years. It runs on the KaraFun system with a library of tens of thousands of songs, and its signature trick is HD video recordings of your performance that you can download afterward and share. Karaoke kicks off nightly around 9 PM in a red-lit room with a proper stage, and there's a front patio out on the street for warmer evenings. The atmosphere is unpretentious and bilingual, with a generous, rarely-judgmental crowd and drinks on the friendlier side of the strip. It's less a place to watch a polished show than to get up and sing yourself, which makes it an easy, low-stakes night for both regulars and first-timers. On busy weekends it fills fast, so it's worth arriving early if you want a turn at the mic.
