Part of the Gay Montreal Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Montreal, Québec
Montreal's iconic Gay Village drag cabaret, founded by Mado Lamotte in 2002.
Cabaret Mado is the Gay Village's signature drag house, on Sainte-Catherine Est in Montreal, founded in 2002 by Mado Lamotte (the stage persona of Luc Provost), a fixture of Quebec drag since the late 1980s and an inductee on Canada's 2SLGBTQ+ Wall of Honour. Shows run most nights of the week, many built as themed tributes to the likes of Celine Dion, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga, with the weekend 'Mado Recoit' revue among the best-known bills in the Village. After the performances the room tips over into a late-night dance floor. The crowd is a genuine mix of Village regulars and visitors, skewing a little younger, and the energy sits closer to a proper cabaret than a club warm-up. It's the kind of show worth building a night around if you're new to Montreal's scene. Next door, La Dinette chez Mado (opened 2018) does diner-style food if you want to eat before or after the show.
