Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The Little Gay Pub arrived in Philadelphia's Gayborhood in May 2025, and it immediately felt like it had always been there. Brought to 102 South 13th Street by three longtime DC bartenders — Dusty Martinez, Dito Sevilla, and Benjamin Gander — the Philly outpost of their beloved Washington DC original is part cocktail bar, part love letter to LGBTQ+ history, and part neighborhood living room. The aesthetic is warm and layered: gilded mirrors, photos of 1960s gay rights marches, framed icons from Freddie Mercury to Billie Jean King, a red London phone booth tucked into the corner, and upstairs, a lush English garden vibe with bold floral wallpaper and pink lighting. Every inch of wall space tells a story, with Philadelphia-specific Easter eggs woven throughout — including a rooftop deck overlooking a mural of city planner Ed Bacon, whose son Kevin once ordered a banana daiquiri from one of the owners. The drink menu leans elevated and intentional, with handcrafted classics alongside Philly-specific cocktails rooted in local culture and heritage, and the bar bites — warm pretzels with pimento cheese, ham-and-Swiss sliders, dinosaur chicken nuggets — strike exactly the right highbrow-meets-fun balance. This is the gay bar you can bring your mom to, the one where the music isn't blaring and the conversation flows, and the one where the entire community — young, old, queer, allied — is not just welcome but genuinely celebrated.
