Members-only gay sauna near SkyTrain in New Westminster for 28+ years
Steam 1 is a members-only gay sauna in New Westminster, across Columbia Street from the SkyTrain station and about half an hour from downtown Vancouver. It has served the wider Vancouver area for more than 28 years. Inside there's a large wet steam room, dry saunas, a fully equipped weight room, private single and double rooms, a play room with video booths and a cruise ramp, cruisy showers, a snack bar, and a lounge with TV and internet access. It's a discreet, no-frills club rather than a scene, the kind of place regulars treat as a standby. Entry is 19+, photo ID is required, and membership is bought at the door. Themed and all-gender nights rotate through the week. For a visitor staying downtown it's a SkyTrain ride out of the centre, which keeps it quieter and more local than a central-city bathhouse would be.
