Part of the Gay Honolulu Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Honolulu, Hawaii
Gay bar on Waikiki's Seaside Avenue, second floor, open since 2003
Tapa's Waikiki is a second-floor gay bar on Seaside Avenue, open since 2003 and one of the few dedicated LGBTQ+ rooms on Oahu. The upstairs layout makes the most of its footprint, with a pool table, a karaoke setup, and an outdoor lanai that looks out over the Waikiki strip. The programming rotates through the week: karaoke on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a drag show on the third Friday of the month, DJ nights on weekends, and kink/fetish nights on first Fridays, a wider spread of theme nights than most Honolulu bars attempt. Opening in the afternoon, it draws a mix of locals and tourists and runs as its own venue, separate from the restaurant downstairs. Between this and Bacchus a few blocks over, it's one of the two poles of Waikiki's small but loyal gay nightlife.
