Palm Springs, California
Coachella Valley's only LGBTQ+ theater company since 2022
The Bent is the Coachella Valley's only LGBTQ+ theater company, staging queer stories and new works at the Palm Springs Cultural Center since 2022. Founded by Artistic Director Steve Rosenbaum and Managing Director Terry Ray, the non-profit has built a loyal following across three seasons with productions like "The Inheritance," "Perfect Arrangement," and Terry Ray's original "The Lincoln Debate" exploring the relationship between Abraham Lincoln and Joshua Speed. The company recently added a cabaret series to its lineup. Performances draw audiences from across the greater Palm Springs area, and the programming leans into stories that center LGBTQ+ experiences rather than simply including them.
